What about the original Night of the Living Dead? That had a Birds-esque fear of the unknown thing going for it. Its ironic ending also had quite a bit to say about human nature.

Unfortunately, we have that to blame for a truckload of crappy, "slow people are trying to eat my brain" movies.

I like how many Hitchcock type of movies made the list. Excellent choice.

Hey... great list! It's rare to find a Top Horror list without The Shining or The Exorcist making the cut... but that's doesn't take away from the quality of movies you selected. I especially like your ranking of The Sixth Sense at #2. It was definitely a great movie and a great horror movie (though I find it hard to believe when you said you love ALL of M. Night Shyamalan's films). My list would probably look very similar to yours as I am too a fan of Scream, Carrie, Alien, and of course Psycho.

Again... great post!

I've seen all of it except Carrie. Your list is great! At the top of my favorites are Hannibal series, Saw series, Night of the Living Dead and The Shining.

For upcoming movies, Saw V is in theaters now, I'll definitely be buying tickets this weekend. I'm also awaiting the House by Dekker. I love Dekker's books! BTW, there is a list of cities where House will be shown in their official website, http://housethemovie.net .

Happy Halloween!
